TornadoStall.jpg (17501 bytes) TORNADO CREATES AMAZING 'CLOUD' EFFECT
A Tornado fighter bomber pulls up, while moving at high speed, causing a stall (a transient high-speed stall). The drop in air pressure around the wings causes the moisture in the air to condense and, in effect, form instant clouds. Jet fighters breaking the sound barrier, particularly when over water, often cause the same effect.
In the case of the Tornado, the condition is enhanced by the swing wings automatically moving to adjust for the stall condition. Photo sent to me by Michael Jacobssen photographer unknown.

Russian K-7 Designed by World War I aviator Konstantin Kalinin with a wingspan greater than a B-52's and a much greater wing area, the K-7 was one of the biggest aircraft built before the jet age. It was only one engine short of the B-52 as well, having the curious arrangement of six pulling on the wing leading edge and one pushing at the rear.

Rumor has it that the two jets were flying patrol over Downtown Houston shortly after the 9/11 attacks.  Only avid military jet enthusiasts could probably confirm if in fact the EF on the jets identifies them to be Ellington Field Houston Texas Air National Guard aircraft and if the white tip on the ordinance suggests them to be carrying "live" ammo, possibly confirming the credible 9/11 connection and significance of the picture. Sent to me by Claus Beckenbach, photographer unknown.
