Lockheed EC-130 HERCULES

The Hercules has been produced or converted in several very specialized variants. The Sigint 9 (signals intelligence) models have been 10 C-130A-IIs (7407th Composite Service Squadron from the late 2950s), C-130B-IIs 556th reconnaissance Squadron from the 1965, EC-130E Coronet Solo II variants 193rd Electronic Combat Squadron, Pennsylvania ANG. Ten EC-130H Compass Call II Jammer. Nine of the command post variant, with a containerized command center in the hold, were delivered as C-130E IIs but are now designated EC-130E ABCCC &th Airborne Command and Control Squadron. The first US Navy model was the EC-130G, and these four aircraft were operated by VR-1 and VR-2 in the Atlantic and Pacific respectively for communications relay with submerged missile launching submarines. They were replaced from 1967 by EC1-130Q TACAMO (Take Charge And Move Out aircraft with improved equipment, and these are flown by VQ-3 and VQ-4.
