EA-3 SKYWARRIOR

Though designed as a nuclear strike bomber, the Skywarrior has spent most of its life in other roles. This is an EKA-3B used for flight refueling and ECM. The most important such variant was the A3D-2Q (from 1962 EA-3B), of which 25 were built from 1958 for electronic reconnaissance and counter-measures. The equipment and four operators occupied a pressurized compartment replacing the weapon bay. A few such aircraft remain serviceable in the early 1990s.
