205 UH-1H IROQUOIS

In 1968 negotiated with the Canadian government and Pratt & Whitney Canada a joint development of the Model 205 (UH-1H "Huey") with two turbo shafts powering a single output shaft via a combining gearbox. This PT6T-3 provided greater reliability as either turbo shaft could sustain the helicopter's flight. The initial deliveries were made to the US Air Force, which took 79 UH-1Ns The twin shafted power plant also attracted the US Navy and Marine Corps to take 221. Two were adapted as VH-1N VIP transport, and another six built as such. The Canadian Armed Forces received the first of 5 CUH-1Ns,later CH-135s in 1971. Other nations also adopted the type in modest numbers.
