| SSgt Matt Balls and assistant SSgt Dan Giller work together to put a 'Once' polish on the Solo bird. Not a favorite job while on the Team, but a must. When the planes taxiied In Trail (though it looked good), it did leave a lot of carbon buildup (from the ole smokin J-79 motors), especially on the latter taxiing planes and wheel wells. While cleaning you always checked for cracks, loose and/or missing rivets, etc….anything that would jeopardize the safety of the airplane, the ground crews and the pilot. |
