| TSgt Gary Wetherington, Crew Chief # 1, 1970/1971, marshalling in Leader "Boss" Swalm after an air show. Behind him stands TSgt Dick Dowler, SSgt Hank Bruggeman, SSgt Ray McCann and SSgt Eddie Jernigan. After the air show, crowds would watch in awe,....as the # 1 crew chief and his teammates stood their ground and slowly reeled in these (55,000lb plus) beasts so close during parking, that the crowd would applaud them like matadors in a bull ring once the aircraft finally stopped. Once stopped, mechanics disperse and race to their respective plane with wheel chocks. What a great feeling and reward for not only the pilots and fellow Team Officers, but for the entire enlisted Maintenance Team........Teamwork at it's finest! |
