Ed we had to carry this flag on us at all times when we were in the Pacific during WW 2. It is made on very fine martial and has been folded up for 58 years, you can see the creases in the martial. This was in case we got shot down, or captured by natives asking them to help us and our government would pay them a reward. Note: it only has 48 stars, Alaska and Hawaii were not states yet.
